Motorcycle Packing Advice

Custom Search

Motorcycle packing...what a pain.

You've got everything laid out on the floor and you're trying to think of what else to bring...we've been there.

Review our list below and double check your bags. You might find something here that you forgot. Print out this page as a helpful checklist before you go.

In our opinion, here are some important things to pack:

  • Bandana and/or scarf
  • Sunscreen
  • Extra sunglasses and clear glass. If you wear a helmet, bring extra face shields, one clear and one tinted.
  • Spray bottle of conditioner or water
  • Wide tooth comb or pick
  • Lip balm with SPF factor
  • Eyeglass cleaner or wipes
  • Feminine products
  • Tissues
  • Camera, extra film and batteries
  • Flip-flops, sandals or sneakers. Really!
  • Bungee cords and/or bungee net
  • Emergency contact numbers
  • Hand wipes or baby wipes
  • Pocket knife or Swiss Army style knife
  • Reusable plastic baggies
  • Tool kit that includes:
    • Duct tape
    • Shop rag or old towel
    • Flashlight and extra batteries
    • Multi-tool that folds up. See the picture on this page.
    • Cable ties
    • Ratchet and socket set. Don't forget the spark-plug socket.
    • Small crescent wrench
    • Locking pliers. A friend had to use it as a shifter once!
    • Tire repair kit and inflator
    • Jumper cables
    • Fuses
    • Tail light and head light bulbs
    • Tube of epoxy
    • Allen wrench set
    • Tire gauge
    • Battery-powered flashing red bicycle light. Use it if you are road-side at night so other motorists can see you.
  • First aid kit that includes:
    • Bandages for cuts and abrasions
    • Scissors
    • Medical tape for bandages
    • Antiseptic
    • Antibiotic ointment
    • Burn and sting relief cream
    • Tweezers
    • Gauze
    • Bug spray
    • Medical gloves (preferably latex-free)
    • Elastic bandage for sprains or securing bandages
    • First aid manual
    • Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen and/or Midol

This list should be altered to fit your needs. We have found the majority of these items to be very useful. Some items have been added to this list by other female riders.

If you think that there are too many items to pack in your bags but you want to take them, split them up between you and your fellow riders. They may be willing to store them for you. You may also find that they have some of these things already.

Look for more advice about packing on our Travel Tips page.
